WHAT’S A GREAT WAY TO STAY HEALTHY? THAT’S RIGHT: EXERCISE.
But forget going to the gym. Palate Coffee Brewery is the perfect place to work out. Here are three routines you can do:
THE ARM LIFT
Sit with your shoulders hunched forward and your right hand clasped around a cup of coffee.
Breathe in deeply, being sure to fill your lungs with the chocolatey aroma of house blend.
Thanks, Judy, for demonstrating these exercises!
Engage your bicep. Lift your arm until your coffee is parallel with your mouth. Draw it towards you at a straight line and pivot your wrist for a sip.
Advanced option: lift your coffee at a curve, engaging the muscles in your forearm.
Do 3 sets of 15 to 20 reps, 4 times a week.
THE CHAIR TWIST
Sit on a stool at the coffee bar with the balls of your feet balanced on the stool frame. Have your left hand rested on the bar, possibly holding your chin. Have your right hand closed around a frappé.
Engage your core. Twist your waist left and right without moving your chest.
Advanced option: do the chair twist while also doing the arm lift.
Do 4 sets of 10 reps, 6 days a week.
THE FINGER LAP
Sit with your chest bowed over a café con leche. Have your left hand on your phone with Instagram ready.
Engage your finger muscles. Use your left hand to pour the espresso into the glass of steamed milk.
Lower the empty espresso cup and lift the spoon. Using your wrist muscles, twirl the spoon in the coffee cup, mixing everything together.
Advanced option: interrupt the flow by snapping a photo, tagging @palatecoffeebrewery, and sharing on social media.
That guy in the background is probably thinking, “Wow! Best workout ever.”
Do 5 sets of 15 reps, 3 times a week.
HAPPY EXERCISING, EVERYBODY!
